Possible Causes

Failed steam temperature sensor (NTC) on steam boiler, Open-circuit steam thermostat, Loose wiring to steam heater, Faulty steam control triac on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Dualit coffee maker and allow the steam boiler to cool completely. Steam circuits can cause severe burns.

Basic checks:

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test steam. If E05 reappears, proceed to internal checks.

Internal checks (advanced):

  • Access steam boiler: Remove the cover to locate the steam boiler or dedicated steam thermoblock.
  • Inspect steam NTC/thermostat: Identify the sensor or thermostat attached to the steam boiler. Check for physical damage or loose mounting.
  • Check wiring: Ensure all connectors from the steam boiler to the main PCB are secure and not heat-damaged.
  • Test components: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the steam thermostat and resistance of the steam NTC. Replace any component that is open or out of specification.

Warning: If you are not comfortable working around high-temperature components and mains voltage, contact a professional technician.
