Possible Causes
Scale buildup in heater tube, Clogged silicone water line, Failing water pump, Overheating causing thermal cutoff to open temporarily
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before servicing.
- 1. Descale thoroughly:
- Run multiple cycles with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution.
- Pause between cycles to allow the solution to soak in the heater and tubing.
- 2. Inspect water lines:
- Remove the top cover and trace the silicone tubing from the reservoir to the heater and brew head.
- Look for kinks, pinches, or visible mineral deposits. Replace any hardened or blocked tubing.
- 3. Check the pump:
- Listen for the pump during operation; if it hums but flow is weak, the pump may be failing.
- Test pump resistance and replace if out of specification or mechanically noisy.
- 4. Inspect thermal cutoff:
- If the unit stops abruptly and resumes after cooling, the thermal cutoff may be opening due to overheating.
- Clean scale from the heater and ensure proper ventilation; replace the thermal cutoff if it has weakened.
