Possible Causes
Misaligned lid switch actuator, Broken lid microswitch, Faulty carafe sensor switch, Damaged switch wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the coffee maker before accessing switches.
- 1. Verify lid and carafe position:
- Ensure the brew basket lid is fully closed and latched.
- Confirm the glass carafe is seated correctly on the warming plate.
- 2. Inspect lid switch:
- Open the top cover to locate the lid microswitch and its plastic actuator.
- Check for broken plastic tabs or misalignment that prevents the switch from being fully depressed.
- Manually press the switch; you should hear a distinct click.
- Test the switch with a multimeter for continuity when pressed. Replace if it does not change state.
- 3. Inspect carafe sensor:
- Some Frigidaire models use a small switch or optical sensor under the warming plate.
- Remove the bottom cover and locate the carafe presence switch.
- Test for continuity when the plate is pressed (simulating carafe weight). Replace the switch if it fails.
- 4. Check wiring:
- Follow the switch harness back to the control board and ensure connectors are tight and wires are not broken.
- 5. Reassemble and test:
- Reinstall covers, plug in, and test by closing the lid and placing the carafe. E06 should clear and brewing should start.
