Possible Causes
Open warming plate heating element, Failed warming plate thermostat, Faulty warming plate relay on control board, Broken wiring between board and plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before working on the warming plate.
- 1. Access the warming plate:
- Remove the bottom cover to expose the underside of the warming plate.
- Identify the heater terminals and any inline thermostat or thermal fuse.
- 2. Test the warming plate element:
- Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the plate element with a multimeter.
- If the reading is open (OL), the warming plate assembly must be replaced.
- 3. Check thermostat / thermal fuse:
- Locate the small thermostat or thermal cutoff attached to the plate.
- Test for continuity at room temperature. If open, replace with the correct rated part.
- 4. Inspect relay and wiring:
- On the control board, locate the warming plate relay and check for burnt contacts or cracked solder joints.
- Resolder or replace the board if damage is found.
- Ensure all wiring from the board to the plate is intact and firmly connected.
- 5. Test operation:
- Reassemble, plug in, brew a small pot, and verify that the warming plate heats and E09 clears.
