Possible Causes

Stalled brew group due to coffee blockage, Broken brew group drive gear, Faulty brew group microswitch or Hall sensor, Failed brew group drive motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the machine before removing the brew group or accessing internal components.

Step-by-step:

  • Remove and clean brew group: Open the service door, remove the Gaggia brew group, and rinse it thoroughly under warm water. Move the piston and levers by hand to ensure they move freely. Let it dry and lightly lubricate the moving rails with food-grade silicone grease.
  • Clean coffee chute: Use the supplied brush or a small vacuum to remove compacted coffee from the pre-ground chute and around the brew group area.
  • Reset brew group position: With the brew group removed, close the service door and turn the machine on. Let it complete its self-test. Turn it off, then reinstall the brew group in its home position following the manual.
  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the drive gear area inside the machine for broken plastic pieces or foreign objects that could jam the mechanism.

If E03 persists, the brew group drive motor, gearbox, or position sensor (microswitch/Hall sensor) may be defective and require replacement. This repair is best handled by a Gaggia service center.
