Grinder Feeding / Hopper Blockage
Grinder runs but no beans are ground (beans stay in hopper)
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Beans bridging in hopper, Very oily beans sticking, Broken grinder inlet flap, Worn grinder burrs not pulling beans in
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before working near the grinder.
Fix steps:
- Stir beans: Remove the hopper lid and gently stir the beans with a spoon to break any bridges.
- Change beans: Avoid very oily beans; use fresh, medium-roast beans.
- Clean hopper and inlet: Empty the hopper, wipe it dry, and vacuum out any residue. Check the grinder inlet for obstructions.
- Inspect burrs: If accessible, remove the top burr and check for wear or damage. Replace burrs if they are dull.
If the grinder still fails to pull beans in, the inlet mechanism or burr carrier may be damaged and should be replaced.
