Machine turns on but will not start brewing when the coffee button is pressed

Safety first: Unplug the machine before opening any panels.

Checks:

• Door and components: Ensure the service door is fully closed, the brew group is installed, the drip tray and dreg drawer are in place, and the water tank is seated. Many Gaggia machines will not brew if any of these are missing.
• Reset: Turn the machine off, unplug for 5 minutes, then restart and try again.
• Try other buttons: Test other functions (hot water, steam) to see if the interface responds.

Internal inspection (advanced):

• Access the front control panel and check the ribbon cable connection to the main board.
• Inspect for moisture or coffee residue on the button contacts or touch panel and clean gently if accessible.

If the brew button alone is unresponsive, the front panel may need replacement. If multiple buttons fail, the main control board or panel assembly should be tested and replaced by a technician.
