Possible Causes
Carafe not fully seated on warming plate, Faulty carafe sensor switch, Broken spring-loaded plate switch, Misaligned warming plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow the warming plate to cool before touching it.
- 1. Reseat the carafe: Place the carafe squarely on the warming plate, pushing it gently back until it is fully seated.
- 2. Check for obstructions: Ensure there are no coffee grounds, filters, or other objects under the carafe that could prevent the plate switch from being pressed.
- 3. Test the plate switch: With the unit unplugged and cool, press down gently on the center of the warming plate. You should feel a slight movement or click from the underlying switch.
- 4. Access the switch (advanced): Remove the base cover to access the carafe presence microswitch. Check for loose wiring or a broken actuator.
- 5. Replace carafe switch: If the switch does not actuate or fails continuity testing, replace it with the correct GE carafe sensor switch.
