Possible Causes

Failed flow sensor, Blocked flow sensor wheel, Airlock in pump, Loose sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool before opening panels.

  • 1. Descale and flush: Run a descaling cycle to clear any mineral buildup that may be affecting the flow sensor.
  • 2. Prime the system: Fill the reservoir fully and run a hot water or rinse cycle (if available) to remove air from the pump and lines.
  • 3. Access flow sensor: Remove the base to locate the flow sensor (often a small plastic housing in-line with the water tubing). Check for kinks or blockages in the hoses.
  • 4. Inspect and clean sensor: If accessible, remove the sensor and rinse it under water to clear debris. Ensure the internal wheel (if present) spins freely.
  • 5. Replace sensor if defective: If E3 persists and the pump runs but no flow is detected, replace the flow sensor with the correct GE part.
