Possible Causes

Damaged membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable to control board, Moisture intrusion behind control panel, Failed touch sensor IC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before removing the control panel or front housing.

  • 1. Dry the panel: If the panel was recently cleaned or exposed to steam, allow the unit to dry for several hours. Do not spray cleaners directly on the control panel.
  • 2. Reseat ribbon cable: Remove the front panel screws and gently pull the control panel forward. Disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control board.
  • 3. Inspect for corrosion: Look for signs of moisture or corrosion on the keypad connector. Clean gently with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
  • 4. Test buttons: After reassembly, plug in and test each button. If some or all buttons still do not respond, the keypad or touch panel is likely defective.
  • 5. Replace keypad assembly: Order the correct GE control panel or keypad assembly and replace it according to the service instructions.
