Possible Causes
Misaligned lid, Broken lid latch, Faulty lid microswitch, Loose lid switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before inspecting the lid mechanism.
- 1. Open and close lid firmly: Open the brew lid fully and then close it with a firm, even pressure. Listen for a click from the internal switch.
- 2. Inspect latch and hinge: Check for cracks or deformation in the lid latch or hinge area. If the lid does not align properly, the switch may not engage.
- 3. Clean around the switch area: Coffee grounds or residue can prevent the lid from closing fully. Clean the rim and latch area with a damp cloth.
- 4. Test lid switch (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the top cover to access the lid microswitch. Check that the actuator is being pressed when the lid closes. Test continuity across the switch terminals while pressing the actuator.
- 5. Replace lid switch or lid assembly: If the switch does not change state when pressed, replace the lid switch. If the lid is physically damaged, replace the entire lid assembly.
