Possible Causes

Jammed brew group mechanism, Broken drive gear or linkage, Faulty microswitch / position sensor, Failed brew group motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Do not force the brew group while the machine is powered.

Freeing the brew group:

  • Remove brew group: Open the service door and remove the brew unit (on fully automatic Gorenje models). If it is stuck, consult the user manual for the emergency release procedure.
  • Clean and lubricate: Rinse the brew group under lukewarm water, removing coffee residues. Allow to dry and apply food-safe silicone grease to the sliding rails and piston seals.
  • Check drive gears: With the side panel removed, inspect the plastic gears and levers that move the brew group. Replace any cracked or stripped gears.
  • Test microswitches: Locate the home-position and brew-position switches. Ensure actuators are not bent and that wiring is intact. Using a multimeter, verify that switches open and close correctly when pressed.

Reassembly: Reinstall the brew group and power on. If E6 persists and the motor does not run or only hums, the motor or control board may require professional replacement.
