E9 error appears and the machine reports a water system fault; water may leak into the drip tray or under the machine.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Do not operate a machine that is leaking internally due to risk of electric shock.
Leak inspection:
- External check: Remove and empty the external drip tray and check for cracks. Inspect the area under the machine for water trails.
- Open housing: Remove side or rear panels to access internal hoses and fittings. Look for wet areas, white limescale marks, or rust.
- Tighten connections: Gently tug on silicone hoses at the pump, thermoblock, and valves. Tighten or replace hose clamps that are loose. Replace any hose that is brittle or cracked.
- Check seals: Inspect O-rings at the thermoblock inlet/outlet and at quick-connect fittings. Replace hardened or flattened O-rings with food-grade, heat-resistant equivalents.
After repair: Run the machine with the covers off (only if you can do so safely) and observe for leaks. If E9 persists or water reaches the electronics, stop and contact a technician.
