Possible Causes

Defective start button or touch sensor, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Software lock due to not completing previous cycle, Faulty control PCB input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains before opening the control panel.

Checks:

  • Reset cycle: Turn the machine off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Ensure all doors are closed, the water tank is full, and the drip tray and grounds container are correctly inserted.
  • Inspect buttons: If using mechanical buttons, press them repeatedly to feel for sticking. Clean around the buttons with a slightly damp cloth (machine unplugged).
  • Open control panel: Remove the front or top cover to access the user interface board. Reseat the ribbon cable connecting it to the main PCB.
  • Test button: With a multimeter, check that the start button closes the circuit when pressed. Replace the UI board or button assembly if faulty.

Note: If all hardware checks out, the main PCB may not be recognizing the command and may need replacement.
