Possible Causes

Water tank not fully seated on base, Magnetic float in reservoir stuck or missing, Reservoir presence reed switch misaligned or failed on base, Debris or scale buildup on reservoir sensor area

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before inspecting or cleaning any parts. Allow the unit to cool completely if recently used.

  • Check reservoir seating: Remove the water reservoir and firmly reseat it on the base. Make sure it is fully down and aligned with the guide rails or locating tabs.
  • Inspect the magnetic float: Look inside the reservoir for a small plastic float that moves up and down. If it is stuck at the bottom or coated with scale, wash the reservoir with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Move the float gently with your finger to ensure it moves freely.
  • Clean sensor contact area: Wipe the bottom of the reservoir and the mating area on the coffee maker base with a damp cloth to remove coffee residue or mineral deposits that may interfere with the reed switch sensor.
  • Test again: Refill the reservoir, reinstall it, plug the unit back in, and try a brew cycle. If E1 persists, the internal reservoir presence reed switch or sensor board may be faulty and require replacement.

Warning: Do not open the main housing unless you are qualified. Internal components carry electric shock risk.
