Possible Causes

Brew heater thermistor open or shorted, Thermistor wiring harness damaged or disconnected, Control PCB temperature sensing circuit failure, Overheat event causing sensor damage on heating plate

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before any inspection.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to discharge the control board, then plug it back in and check if E2 clears.
  • Check for overheating signs: Inspect the warming plate and underside of the unit for burn marks or melted plastic that may indicate an overheat event. If present, discontinue use.
  • Clean ventilation: Ensure the bottom and rear vents are not blocked by dust or cabinets. Overheating can trigger sensor faults.
  • Test with water: Fill the reservoir with fresh water, reseat it, and attempt a brew. If E2 reappears immediately, the thermistor or its wiring is likely defective and the heater/thermistor assembly or main PCB will need replacement by a technician.

Warning: Accessing the thermistor requires opening the base and exposing mains wiring. If you are not experienced with appliance repair, contact a professional.
