Possible Causes

Whole beans jammed in grinder chute, Foreign object (stone, metal) in grinder burrs, Grinder motor overheated, Grinder motor overload protector tripped

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow the grinder to cool for at least 20 minutes before working on it.

  • Empty bean hopper: Remove the bean hopper lid and pour out any beans. Check for foreign objects or unusually oily beans clumped together.
  • Clear grinder chute: If accessible, remove the grinder chute cover and use a small brush to clear compacted grounds. Do not use metal tools that could damage the burrs.
  • Rotate burrs manually: On some Gourmia models, the upper burr can be removed. Take it out and gently rotate the lower burr with a wooden stick to free jams.
  • Clean thoroughly: Vacuum or brush out loose grounds from the grinder housing and chute.
  • Test after cool-down: Reassemble, plug in, and run a grind-only or small brew cycle. If E7 returns immediately, the grinder motor or its overload protector may be defective and require replacement.
