Possible Causes

Stuck or shorted membrane button, Moisture under touch panel, Damaged ribbon cable between keypad and PCB, Failed capacitive touch sensor IC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before touching the control panel internals.

  • Clean the panel surface: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp, non-abrasive cloth to remove sticky residue. Dry thoroughly.
  • Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and test the buttons.
  • Check for stuck keys: Gently press each button several times to free any that may be stuck. On touch panels, wipe in circular motions to clear oils.
  • Dry out moisture: If the panel was exposed to steam or spills, leave the unit unplugged in a dry area for 24 hours.
  • If E9 remains: The keypad/touch panel or its ribbon cable is likely damaged and must be replaced as an assembly.
