Carafe overflows even though the water level is within the markings.

Safety first: Hot coffee overflow can cause burns; unplug and let cool before cleaning.

Check carafe and basket:

• Ensure you are using the original Hamilton Beach carafe for your model.
• Center the carafe fully under the brew basket.
• Inspect the drip stop lever under the basket; it should move freely when the carafe is in place.

Clean drip stop:

• Remove the brew basket and clean the drip stop mechanism with hot soapy water to remove sticky residue.

If overflow continues with correct carafe and a clean drip stop, the basket assembly may be warped and require replacement.
