Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool fully before inspection.

Check ventilation: Ensure the coffee maker has space around it and is not pushed against a wall or under a low cabinet trapping heat.
Descale the system: Mineral buildup can cause localized overheating. Run a full descaling cycle with vinegar and water.
Observe behavior: Note whether the unit always stops at the same point in the brew. Consistent early shutoff suggests a thermostat or control issue.
Inspect cord and plug: Wiggle the cord gently at the plug and where it enters the machine (while unplugged) to check for looseness or damage.

If the unit consistently shuts off early even after descaling, the thermostat or control board may require replacement.
