Possible Causes

Manufacturing residues in water path, New plastic components off-gassing, Inadequate initial cleaning, Low-quality water reacting with plastics

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use only food-safe cleaners and rinse thoroughly.

  • Initial cleaning cycles: Run 3–4 full reservoirs of clean water through the machine before first use.
  • Vinegar rinse: Run a cycle with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution, then 2–3 cycles with clean water to remove any residual taste.
  • Use filtered water: Try brewing with filtered or bottled water to reduce off-flavors.
  • Clean removable parts: Wash the reservoir, basket, and carafe with warm soapy water and rinse well.

If the plastic taste persists after multiple cleanings, internal components may be off-gassing and the unit may need evaluation or replacement under warranty.
