Safety first: Steam can cause serious burns. Unplug and let the unit cool completely before inspection.

Clean brew head and spray plate: Remove the filter basket and clean the water outlet area thoroughly to ensure steam and water can exit properly.
Inspect lid gasket and hinges: Check for cracks or deformation in the gasket and ensure the lid closes evenly on both sides.
Descale: Run a descaling cycle to clear internal steam passages.
Check vent openings: Clean any visible vent slots on the top or back of the unit to ensure steam can escape as designed.

Persistent side steam leaks may indicate a warped lid or internal blockage requiring disassembly.

Steam escapes excessively from the sides or back of the coffee maker during brewing.
