Possible Causes
Clogged basket outlet, Too fine coffee grind or too much coffee, Carafe not seated to open drip-stop valve, Drip-stop mechanism stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning up hot coffee spills.
- Check carafe position: Ensure the carafe is fully pushed back so that its lid presses the drip-stop lever under the basket.
- Clean basket outlet: Remove the basket and thoroughly clean the outlet hole and drip-stop assembly. Remove any coffee buildup or paper filter fragments.
- Adjust coffee grind and amount: Use a medium grind and follow the manufacturer's recommended scoop count. Overfilling or using espresso-fine grind can cause overflow.
- Test drip-stop: With the basket removed, press the drip-stop lever by hand to ensure it moves freely and springs back. If it sticks, soak the basket in warm soapy water and clean thoroughly.
Persistent overflow even with correct coffee amount and grind may indicate a damaged basket or drip-stop that should be replaced.
