The CLEAN or DESCALE indicator light stays on or flashes even after brewing; machine may still operate.

Safety first: Unplug the unit when not actively running a cycle.

• Run the official clean cycle: Fill the reservoir with a descaling solution (white vinegar diluted 1:1 with water or Kenmore-approved descaler). Start the CLEAN cycle if your model has one, or run a full brew cycle without coffee.
• Soak and repeat: Pause the cycle halfway and let the solution sit in the system for 20–30 minutes, then resume. Repeat if the light remains on.
• Flush thoroughly: Run 2–3 full reservoirs of fresh water to remove any remaining descaler.
• Reset indicator: On many Kenmore models, press and hold the CLEAN button (or a specific button combination) for several seconds to reset the light. Refer to the user manual for the exact reset procedure.
