Possible Causes
Failed water pump, Loose pump wiring connector, Burnt pump winding, Faulty pump driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before any disassembly.
- Listen for pump: Start a brew cycle and listen closely. If you hear no humming or vibration from the base, the pump is not running.
- Check reservoir seating: Ensure the water tank is fully seated and any float or magnet level sensor is not stuck. Some models will not energize the pump if they think the tank is empty.
- Access pump: Remove the bottom cover to locate the small electric pump (often a vibratory or rotary pump). Check for loose spade or plug connectors and reseat them.
- Inspect for blockages: Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the pump (have towels ready). Blow gently through the hoses to confirm they are not blocked.
- Test/replace pump: If the pump receives power (check with a multimeter during a brew command) but does not run, replace the pump with a compatible Kenmore water pump assembly.
