Possible Causes
Open warming plate heating element, Failed warming plate thermostat, Loose wiring to hot plate, Faulty relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow the warming plate to cool before touching.
- Check keep-warm setting: Confirm that the keep-warm function is enabled and not set to 0 minutes on programmable Kenmore models.
- Inspect plate surface: Look for cracks or burn marks on the warming plate. Physical damage often indicates a failed element.
- Access heater wiring: Remove the bottom cover to expose the warming plate connections. Check for loose or burnt wires and secure or replace as needed.
- Test element and thermostat: With a multimeter, test continuity across the warming plate element and its thermostat. Replace any open components.
- Control board check: If the element and thermostat test good but no voltage is supplied during keep-warm mode, the control board relay may be faulty and the board should be replaced.
