Possible Causes
Failed steam thermostat on boiler, Blocked steam nozzle or wand, Steam solenoid valve stuck, Steam temperature sensor fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool fully. Steam circuits can cause severe burns.
- Clean the steam wand: Remove the frothing tip from the Kenwood steam wand (if detachable). Soak it in hot water with a little detergent, then clear the nozzle holes with a fine needle.
- Run steam purge: After reassembling and plugging in, select steam and open the steam knob fully to purge air and any residual water. If E08 appears immediately, stop and unplug.
- Descale the steam circuit: Run a descaling cycle ensuring that part of the cycle is directed through the steam wand, as per the user manual.
- Do not open boiler: Do not attempt to open or disassemble the boiler or steam thermostat yourself; this involves pressurized hot water and mains voltage.
- If E08 persists: The steam thermostat, NTC sensor, or steam solenoid valve may need replacement. Contact a qualified service technician.
