Possible Causes
Incomplete descaling cycle, Scale sensor misreading, Firmware glitch, Excessive limescale on boiler and pipes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before extended maintenance.
- Repeat descaling: Refill the Kenwood water tank with fresh descaling solution and run the full descaling program again, carefully following on-screen prompts.
- Rinse thoroughly: After descaling, run at least 2–3 full tanks of clean water through the machine (coffee and steam circuits) to remove all descaler residues.
- Reset error: Some models require you to confirm completion of descaling in the menu. Navigate to the maintenance or descaling menu and select "Reset" or "Confirm" if available.
- Power cycle: Turn the machine off, unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in and check if E14 has cleared.
- Persistent E14: The internal scale sensor or control board may be faulty. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
