Possible Causes
Carafe not fully seated on warming plate, Dirty or stuck carafe sensor lever, Failed microswitch under warming plate, Broken carafe magnet (if used)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Check carafe position:
- Ensure the carafe is pushed fully back on the warming plate so the spout aligns with the drip stop.
- Lift and reseat the carafe a few times to ensure the sensor is actuated.
Clean sensor area:
- Wipe the warming plate and the area around the carafe sensor lever or button with a damp cloth to remove coffee residue.
- Operate the lever gently by hand (with the unit unplugged) to ensure it moves freely.
Test with another carafe (if available):
- If you have a compatible KitchenAid replacement carafe, test to rule out an issue with the carafe base or magnet.
If the error persists, the carafe presence microswitch or sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement from underneath the warming plate.
