Possible Causes

Weak or seized water pump, Airlock in pump inlet, Heating element not reaching temperature, Control board timing fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool.

Clear airlocks and minor pump issues:

  • Fill the reservoir completely with water.
  • Firmly seat the reservoir and start a brew cycle without coffee grounds.
  • If the pump is noisy but not moving water, stop the cycle, remove the reservoir, and tap it gently to release trapped air, then reseat and retry.
  • Run 2–3 cycles of plain water to help purge air and minor debris.

Descale the system:

  • Use a 1:1 vinegar and water solution and run a cleaning cycle to remove scale from the pump and heater.

If ERR5 continues:

  • The water pump assembly may be failing. Access it by removing the back or bottom cover (model dependent).
  • Inspect the pump for leaks, burnt smell, or excessive noise when powered.
  • Replace the pump if it does not run smoothly or fails continuity tests.

If the pump tests good, the heating element or control board may not be coordinating correctly, which typically requires professional diagnosis.
