Possible Causes
Failed group temperature probe, loose probe wiring, defective group heater cartridge (on saturated or independent group designs), control board PID channel failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the machine. Allow the group and adjacent metal parts to cool before touching.
Steps to diagnose ALARM 11:
- Inspect group temperature probe: Locate the probe on or near the group head (depending on model). Check that the probe is firmly mounted and that its wiring is intact and connected.
- Check resistance: With the machine unplugged, disconnect the probe and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to La Marzocco specifications. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Inspect group heater (if equipped): Some La Marzocco groups have dedicated heater cartridges. Check wiring and measure resistance of the heater. An open circuit indicates a failed heater.
- Verify connections at control board: Reseat the group temperature and heater connectors on the main or group control board.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new group temperature probe or heater cartridge as needed, using OEM parts and proper thermal compound if specified.
- Persistent ALARM 11: If sensors and heaters are good, the PID control channel on the board may be defective. Contact a professional technician for board replacement.
