Possible Causes
Failed rotary pump motor, seized pump head, defective pump relay on control board, broken pump wiring or loose connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the machine. Water and mains voltage are present in the pump area; only proceed if you are comfortable working around these hazards.
Steps to diagnose ALARM 7:
- Check water supply: Confirm that the main water line is open and that any external water softener or filter is not blocked.
- Listen for pump operation: Turn the machine on and start a brew cycle (for testing, if safe). If the pump is silent, suspect electrical issues. If it hums loudly but no water flows, suspect a seized pump or blocked inlet.
- Inspect pump wiring: Remove the lower/front panel to access the pump and motor. Check that all spade connectors are tight and that no wires are burned or broken.
- Check pump motor: With the machine unplugged, attempt to rotate the pump shaft (at the motor fan or coupling) by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is locked, the pump may be seized and require replacement.
- Electrical tests (advanced): Measure continuity of the pump motor windings and verify that the control board is sending power to the pump relay when a brew is initiated. A non-energizing relay or burned contacts indicate a failed control board or relay.
- Replace components as needed: Replace the rotary pump assembly or pump motor with a La Marzocco-compatible unit if seized or electrically open. If the relay or board is faulty, contact a professional technician for board replacement.
