Possible Causes
Misconfigured PID parameters, faulty brew temperature probe reading low, stuck brew boiler SSR partially on, poor thermal contact between probe and boiler
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the machine before working inside. Allow the brew boiler to cool.
Steps:
- Confirm temperature: Use an external thermometer at the group to verify actual brew temperature.
- Check PID setpoint and offset: Enter programming and ensure the brew temperature setpoint and offset are correct. Reset to factory defaults if unsure.
- Inspect probe mounting: Ensure the brew temperature probe is fully seated and has good thermal contact with the boiler. Tighten if loose.
- Test probe: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to spec. Replace if inaccurate.
- Check SSR: With the machine unplugged, test the SSR for leakage or stuck-on behavior. Replace if it shows continuity when it should be off.
