La Marzocco
Wet Steam / Condensation in Steam Circuit
Steam wand spits excessive water before producing dry steam; milk texture is inconsistent.

Possible Causes
Steam boiler temperature set too low, long idle times causing condensate buildup, steam wand not purged before use, scaled or partially flooded steam boiler
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when purging steam; hot water and steam can cause burns.
Steps:
- Purge before steaming: Always open the steam wand for a few seconds before inserting into milk to clear condensate.
- Check steam pressure: Ensure the boiler is reaching the correct pressure. Low pressure leads to wetter steam.
- Adjust temperature/pressure: If the machine allows, increase steam boiler setpoint within La Marzocco’s recommended range.
- Inspect for scale or overfilling: If the boiler is overfilled or heavily scaled, water carryover can increase. Have a technician check level probe calibration and descale the boiler if needed.
