Possible Causes
Failed pressurestat or pressure sensor allowing overpressure, scaled or sticking safety valve, incorrect pressure setting, blocked steam outlet causing pressure buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the safety valve is venting, turn OFF and unplug the machine immediately. Keep clear of escaping steam and hot water.
Steps:
- Allow to cool: Wait until the boiler has cooled and pressure has dropped to zero.
- Inspect pressure control: Check the pressurestat or electronic pressure sensor for proper operation. Replace if it allows pressure above the rated safety valve setting.
- Check safety valve: If the valve continues to leak at normal pressure, it may be fouled with scale. Replace the safety valve; do not attempt to repair or adjust it.
- Verify pressure setting: After replacing components, confirm that boiler pressure stays within La Marzocco’s specified range.
