Display shows A6; machine may start to brew then aborts, or never reaches correct temperature.

Safety first: Unplug the machine and let it cool before opening. Heating circuits carry mains voltage.

Step 1 – Descale thoroughly

• Use a Lavazza-approved descaler; fill the tank as directed.
• Run the full descaling cycle, ensuring water flows through the coffee outlet and hot-water outlet (if present).
• Repeat the descaling cycle if the machine is heavily scaled or has never been descaled.
• Flush with at least two full tanks of fresh water.

Step 2 – Check ventilation and ambient conditions

• Ensure the machine has adequate ventilation and is not placed in a very cold environment that could affect temperature sensing.
• Remove any objects blocking vents.

Step 3 – Internal inspection (advanced)

• Unplug and remove the cover.
• Inspect the thermoblock wiring harness for loose connectors or heat damage.
• Check the NTC sensor connection and mounting; it must be firmly attached to the thermoblock surface.

Step 4 – Component testing (for technicians)

• Measure resistance of the NTC sensor at room temperature and compare with specifications.
• Check continuity of the heating element; an open circuit indicates a failed heater.
• Inspect the control board for burned tracks or components in the heater drive circuit.

When to seek service

• If A6 persists after descaling and basic checks, professional diagnosis of the heating circuit is recommended.
