Possible Causes
Shorted brew temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Moisture on sensor connector, Control board input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool before accessing internal components.
Step 1 – Dry and reset
- If the machine was recently descaled or exposed to heavy steam, allow it to dry for several hours.
- Unplug for 10 minutes, then retry.
Step 2 – Inspect sensor wiring (advanced)
- Remove the cover and locate the brew thermoblock and its NTC sensor.
- Check the sensor cable for cuts, pinches, or melted insulation.
- Ensure the connector is clean and fully seated on the control board.
Step 3 – Replace sensor (for technicians)
- If the sensor measures near 0 Ω (short) at room temperature, replace it with the correct Lavazza NTC sensor.
- If wiring and sensor are good, the control board may have a defective input circuit.
When to seek service
- E01 usually requires professional diagnosis if basic drying and connector checks do not resolve it.
