Possible Causes
Scaled or contaminated steam boiler level probe, Broken or disconnected level probe wire, Faulty autofill circuit on control board, Poor ground connection between boiler and chassis
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF, unplug, and allow the boiler to cool and depressurize. Open the steam wand to release residual pressure.
- Access the level probe: Remove the top cover. Locate the steam boiler and identify the level probe (metal rod with an insulated terminal on top).
- Clean the probe: Disconnect the wire and unscrew the probe. Remove scale with a non-abrasive pad or fine Scotch-Brite. Do not sand aggressively or shorten the probe.
- Check wiring: Inspect the probe wire for cracks, burns, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Verify ground: Ensure the boiler has a solid ground connection to the chassis. Tighten any loose ground screws or lugs.
- Reinstall and test: Refit the probe with its sealing washer, reconnect the wire, and power ON. Observe the autofill behavior. If AL7 persists, the level probe or control board autofill circuit may require replacement by a technician.
