Possible Causes

Faulty group head NTC sensor (on Lelit models with group probe), Loose sensor mounting on group, Damaged sensor wiring harness, PID controller / main board failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF, unplug, and allow the group head to cool before touching any metal parts.

  • Check external factors: Ensure the machine has warmed up for at least 20–30 minutes. AL8 may appear if the group is extremely cold or if the machine is in a very cold environment.
  • Locate group sensor: On models like the Lelit Bianca and some Mara versions, a temperature sensor is mounted on or near the E61 group. Inspect it for loose screws or poor contact with the group metal.
  • Tighten and clean: If the sensor is loose, gently tighten its mounting screw. Clean any coffee oils or residue between the sensor and group to ensure good thermal contact.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable back to the control board. Check for pinched, cut, or burnt wires and reseat the connector.
  • Replace if needed: If the sensor is physically damaged or readings are erratic, replace with a compatible Lelit group head NTC sensor. If a new sensor does not resolve AL8, the PID / main control board may be defective.
