Safety first: Allow the group to cool before working near the gasket.

• Clean contact surfaces: Wipe the group gasket area and portafilter rim to remove coffee grounds and oils.
• Check locking position: Ensure the portafilter is locked firmly to the usual position (often around 6 o’clock). If it stops much earlier, the gasket may be worn.
• Inspect gasket: Look up into the group and check for cracks, flattening, or missing pieces in the gasket.
• Replace gasket: Use a gasket removal tool or a small flat screwdriver to pry out the old gasket. Install a new Lelit group head gasket of the correct thickness, ensuring it seats evenly.
