How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not block or plug the safety valve. It is a critical safety device.
- Check pressure: Verify boiler pressure on the gauge. If it is within the upper end of normal, occasional brief venting can be normal.
- Descale valve: With the machine OFF and depressurized, remove the safety valve and soak it in descaler to clean the seat. Rinse thoroughly before reinstalling.
- Adjust pressure control: Ensure the pressurestat or PID steam setting is not set excessively high.
- Replace valve: If the valve vents frequently at normal pressure, replace the boiler safety valve.
