Possible Causes
Faulty pressurestat or PID control for steam boiler, Stuck steam boiler relay/triac ON, Misadjusted pressurestat set too high, Blocked pressure sensor tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the safety valve is venting continuously, switch OFF and unplug immediately. Do not block the safety valve.
- Allow to cool: Let the machine cool and depressurize fully before opening any panels.
- Check settings: On PID-controlled models, verify the steam temperature/pressure setting in the menu. Reset to factory defaults if unsure.
- Inspect pressurestat (if fitted): On mechanical-pressurestat models, ensure the pressurestat is not physically damaged or flooded with water. If adjustable, return it to the manufacturer’s recommended setting.
- Check sensor line: If a small tube connects the boiler to a pressure sensor, ensure it is not blocked with scale. Clean or replace as needed.
- Control fault: If the boiler continues to heat beyond setpoint, the pressurestat or control board heater driver may be stuck and must be replaced by a technician.
