Magimix Under-Extraction / Incorrect Brew Volume

Coffee tastes weak or watery even when using the same capsules or ground coffee.

Possible Causes

Brew volume setting too high, Low pump pressure due to wear, Blocked shower screen causing channeling, Incorrect grind size (for ground-coffee models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the machine to cool before removing any internal filters or screens.

  • Check volume settings: Many Magimix machines allow programming cup size. Reset to factory defaults or reduce the programmed volume for espresso.
  • Clean the brew head: Remove and clean the shower screen or filter (on ground-coffee models) with warm water and a soft brush to remove coffee oils.
  • Use fresh coffee: For ground-coffee models, ensure beans are fresh and grind is appropriate (fine for espresso). Avoid very coarse grinds.
  • Descale: Perform a descaling cycle to restore proper flow and pressure through the thermoblock and group.

If coffee remains weak despite correct settings and cleaning, the pump may be worn and require replacement.
