Possible Causes
Limescale build-up in thermoblock, Limescale in flow meter, Limescale restricting internal hoses, Descale counter reached programmed limit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Follow the descaling instructions in the user manual and never use vinegar, which can damage internal seals.
- Prepare descaling solution: Fill the water tank with a Magimix-approved descaler or a citric-acid-based product, diluted according to the instructions.
- Start the descaling program: Enter the descaling mode as described in your model's manual (often by holding specific buttons). Let the machine run the full cycle, including pauses.
- Rinse thoroughly: After descaling, empty and rinse the tank, then run at least two full tanks of fresh water through the machine (brew and hot water functions) to flush out any residue.
- Reset the descale indicator: Follow the manual to reset the DESC icon or counter. This often involves holding a button for several seconds.
Regular descaling according to water hardness will prevent heating and flow faults and extend the life of the thermoblock and pump.
