Possible Causes

Thermal fuse on thermoblock open, Overheat thermostat tripped, Heavy limescale causing localized overheating, Control board driving heater continuously

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Internal parts can remain very hot.

  • Power cycle: After cooling, plug the machine back in and turn it on. If ERR5 clears temporarily but returns quickly, overheating is recurring.
  • Descale the heating circuit: Limescale on the thermoblock can cause hot spots and trigger overheat protection. Run a full descaling cycle using a Magimix-approved descaler. Follow the manual carefully and flush thoroughly afterwards.
  • Ensure ventilation: Make sure the machine has space around it for air circulation and is not pushed tightly under cabinets where heat can build up.

If ERR5 remains after descaling and cooling, the thermal fuse, thermostat, or thermoblock assembly may need replacement. These are internal, mains-voltage components and should be serviced by a professional.
