Possible Causes

Coffee or milk burnt onto heating surfaces, Electrical short in wiring, Failing pump or motor, Thermoblock overheating due to scale

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately switch off and unplug the machine. If you see smoke or flames, do not attempt to use it again.

  • Allow to cool: Let the machine cool completely before inspecting.
  • Check for external residue: Look for burnt coffee or milk on the cup tray, steam wand, or around the brew head and clean thoroughly.
  • Do not open casing: If the smell seems electrical (sharp, acrid) or you see melted plastic, do not open the machine yourself.

An electrical burning smell indicates a serious internal fault. Have the machine inspected and repaired by an authorised Magimix service centre before further use.
