Possible Causes
Misaligned brew group, Dirty or jammed brew piston, Faulty brew group position sensor, Broken brew group locking mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before handling the brew group.
Steps:
- Remove brew group: Open the side/front service door and carefully remove the brew unit.
- Deep clean: Open any accessible levers on the brew group and rinse all channels, screens, and pistons under warm water. Remove compacted coffee pucks and old grounds.
- Lubricate: Apply a thin layer of food-grade silicone grease to the brew group rails, piston seals, and main joints.
- Reset position: With the machine off, reinsert the brew group in its home position as described in the Melitta manual. Ensure it locks firmly.
- Run rinse cycle: Power on and run a rinse/clean cycle to allow the machine to recalibrate the brew group position.
If F5 persists, the position sensor or internal brew group mechanics may be damaged. Replacement of the brew group assembly or sensor is recommended.
