Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine. Never put fingers or tools into the grinder while powered.
Steps:
- Empty bean hopper: Remove all beans from the hopper. Vacuum out loose grounds from the top.
- Check grind setting: Set the grinder to a slightly coarser setting to reduce load.
- Clean grinder: If accessible, remove the upper burr (per Melitta instructions) and brush out compacted coffee and oils. Avoid water on metal burrs.
- Test with fresh beans: Use dry, medium-roast beans. Very oily dark roasts can cause jams.
If the grinder still stalls or F7 returns, the grinder motor or its driver circuit may be failing. Replacement of the grinder assembly or control board is usually required.
