Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked drip tray sensor, Misaligned drip tray or grounds container, Faulty tray microswitch or optical sensor, Broken tray sensor actuator tab
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before reaching into the tray area.
Steps:
- Thorough cleaning: Remove the drip tray and grounds container. Wash them with warm soapy water, paying attention to any plastic tabs or flags that actuate sensors. Dry completely.
- Clean sensor: Inside the machine, gently clean the sensor area (microswitch lever or optical window) with a soft cloth to remove coffee residue and moisture.
- Check alignment: Reinsert the tray and container fully until they click. Ensure no foreign objects are under or behind the tray.
If the warning remains, the tray sensor or its actuator tab may be damaged. Replace the sensor or tray assembly as needed.
