Possible Causes

Leaking hose or O-ring in hydraulic circuit, cracked water tank or tank outlet valve, leaking brew unit seals, activated base tray float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately unplug the machine. Water inside the base can contact live parts.

Initial actions:

  • Remove the drip tray and waste container; empty and dry them thoroughly.
  • Check under and around the machine for visible water.

Internal inspection:

  • Remove the outer panels to access the base tray.
  • Look for a float switch or moisture sensor in the base; if water is present, carefully soak it up with towels and allow the area to dry completely.
  • Visually inspect all hoses, connectors, and the brew unit area while running a test rinse (if safe) to identify the leak source.
  • Pay special attention to O-rings at the water tank connection, flow meter, pump outlet, heater block, and brew unit inlet/outlet.

Resolution:

  • Replace any cracked hoses, hardened O-rings, or leaking fittings with Miele-approved parts.
  • If the water tank or its outlet valve is cracked, replace the tank assembly.
  • After repairs, dry the base tray completely and reset the float switch before reassembling.

Note: Persistent or large leaks should be handled by a technician to avoid damage to electronics and cabinetry (for built-in models).
